Itamar Gov at the exhibition The Myth of Normal. Of Competing and Conceding at Kunstverein Hannover (03/05/2024)

The group exhibition The Myth of Normal. Of Competing and Conceding puts the spotlight on fundamental questions concerning the relationship between the body and society. Against the backdrop of the UEFA EURO 2024 – an athletic event at which high-performance bodies compete – the show at Kunstverein Hannover presents artistic perspectives on the perception and reception of vulnerability, individual and collective trauma, in an exploration of pain, illness and therapy, healing practices and – ultimately – concepts of care and (re)distribution.

The exhibition is an official contribution to the UEFA EURO 2024 arts and culture program, and supported by the Ministry of Science and Culture of Lower Saxony, the EURO 2024 Football & Culture Foundation, the Institut Français Deutschland and the French Ministry of Culture. The exhibition will be open to the public from May 4 to August 14, 2024.

From the May 8 to June 30, the Salzburger Kunstverein showcases The Myth of Normal: Chronic Contradictions a group exhibition conceptualized in collaboration with Kunstverein Hannover - intricately paired with Kunstverein Hannover’s The Myth of Normal: Of Competing and Conceding, serving as its sororal twin in exploring the standards of “normalcy” in health and societal expectations inspired by the insights of Dr. Gabor Maté.
